On a Saturday morning the Service Experience Camp started in The WYE Berlin.The idea behind the event was to give service designers a format to meet and present their knowledge to each other in a half-planned, half-spontaneous format.

Boris Anthony shared his experiences at Nokia with diverse interfaces across different platforms. He told the audience about the latest trends and stated his opinion about future developments.

In a very engaging talk, Reto Wettach, shared his perspectives on the development of digital lifestyle in the past and shared his predictions about future developments.

Suddenly it was already time to say goodbye. The Service Experience Camp was a great experience for everybody and mainly lived from the energy of the participants. With a resume of the weekend and a Thank You- note to all the people who created a great event, the team of Service Design Berlin gave the first Service Experience Camp a heartly closing.

Julia Kloiber shared her experiences with the accessibility of public services. She talked about positive and negative examples from different countries and explained the main obstacles and challenges for making government services more user- friendly.

Adam Lawrence

"Finding the Rock and Roll"

"Service experience... is about the emotional needs, the physical needs, the contextual, even the spiritual needs of a customer."

The founder of the Service Design & Sustainability Jams Adam Lawrence gave a compelling speech about the similarities between service design and Rock 'n' Roll. He also explained to which order of significant events within a story - called dramatic cascade - people react the most. Apart from that he shared wisdoms from Aristoteles to Keith Richards.

Bhoram Cho/Kitchensurfing

"Bringing the restaurant to your home"

"Food is the most shareable currency in the world."

Bhoram Cho, the founder of Kitchensurfing reported to the audience about how to become an entrepreneur. On his journey he deconstructed the restaurant experience and turned cooking at home into a service. In the development of his company, rather than aggressive expansion, Bhoram focuses on a community building approach.

The Barcamp format is an open un-conference format that encourages participants to share their experiences in workshops, presentations, lectures or any other format. All participants can propose and present a session and everyone is free to join wherever they like.

Marco Spies/Thinkmoto

"Digital Products & Services - At the heart of a Brand now"

"Nobody is looking for that FLASH moment anymore, everybody wants to make things better - whatever it is, products, ourselves or the environment."

Marco Spies talked about how brands were transforming and reinventing themselves over the last 20 years and how peopel take technology for granted in their everyday life. He gave examples of companies who managed this change successfully and also mentioned unsuccessful examples.

Mike LaVigne/Clue

"Disruption"

"My parents taught me 2 things: Be kind to others and follow your dreams. I added 1 thing myself: Make yourself uncomfortable."

Mike LaVigne told the audience about his diverse career in the service industry and why he decided to join a small startup after many years in big multinationals. He also talked about the challenges during his return to visual design after more than a decade. Finally he shared his views on the role that designers should play for the definition of our common future.

After a rich breakfast Olga, Katrin, Manuel and Martin, the founders of Service Design Berlin welcomed the guests to a weekend of sharing and learning about the latest developments in service design.
